Breathing—it's something you don't think about often, even though you do it over 20,000 times a day, and you're doing it right now. But for more than 30 million Americans, every breath is a struggle. Thousands of Coloradans live with emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and other lung diseases.

The American Lung Association was founded in response to the tuberculosis plague in the early 1900s. Today, lung disease research and prevention remains at the core of our mission.
